My airline has jumpseat agreements with three other ones. To get to my base (JFK) from home (PIT), I will always take a jetBlue flight before ANY other...and I'm with the teamsters! They fly the ERJ90 out of PIT, but I have to say (next to my own CRJ50) I prefer the Airbus to any other. Okay...so the trip 7 isn't too awfully bad. LOL

Make sure the kids get the Terra Blue Chips! They're addicting!!!

Call Capt Tom and get started. 2+ months is plenty of time to get your fears under some control and really enjoy your vacation with your family.

I used to be a fearful flier. Now I fly all the time. Just crossed 50000 miles for the year on Saturday. Trust me...you aren't "on to something." But I think you actually know that already.

I too am flying with my family in August. This will be my first flight in over 17 years and my children's first time flying ever. I have not wanted my fear to prevent my children from experiencing the world and this will be our first trip out west from the East Coast. I actually bought the plane tickets already - Southwest Non-Stop (I pray I can get on the place once, let alone switch planes )

Can I really do this? I have been reading these boards for a year now. It used to give me comfort knowing that so many other people felt the same way. Now, I have it in my head that we are all "onto something" and there is a reason for this fear. (I know, egotistical, isn't it??) I dreamt last night that we were in the airport waiting to get on the plane. In the dream, I kept thinking "why aren't I scared yet??" Which, to...

I like the A320 too and prefer it to the comparably sized Boeing 737.

Hi Terrymill826, I have flown JetBlue a number of times (mostly before learning about the nonunion angle). Because I live in their "home town" so to speak I know a lot of people who fly them, quite happily. I just wanted to reassure you that the A320 is a great plane. It's not as big as a 767, but Airbus planes are of excellent quality comparable to Boeing. Also, I like flying into the Long Beach airport. There is very little air traffic compared to LAX. So you just fly straight into the airport, no following in line behind a stream of other planes or flying in circles to wait your turn. No waiting in line for take-off. Your plane will probably be the only one on the tarmac (though there will be a few in the gates), making the possibility of a collision pretty much impossible! (not that one would happen anyway!) Good luck before the flight! (Notice I didn't say Good luck during the flight; I find since doing the SOAR course that the anxiety before the flight...

I would just love to embrace this trip and get really excited about the vacation and all that we will be doing but my fear is like a huge roadblock. I WILL GO. I know that. But I want to take it to the next level and get past this wall. That's my biggest problem. Anyway anything you can help with would be great.

Hi. I haven't been on the boards in awhile but it's nearing two months before a big trip that we have planned for myself, DH and my 4 kids to fly out from Ft Lauderdale to Long Beach for our summer vacation. It's a great trip planned where we are going to then drive up the coast to San Francisco and back for 12 days.

I have to start preparing myself mentally for this by tracking the flight and going through my mental ritual. I hate having to do this. I wish I could fully engulf myself in the details of the trip....

Anyway I am already nervous because we are going on JetBlue (Sorry Capt Tom, I know you don't like non union airlines but I have two small children and need the TVs to entertain them on a 5 hour flight). Anyway I looked it up and see that it is an Airbus A320. Agh. I prefer a Boeing. The last flight out to CA we were on a 767 and the ride was smooth as can be. Of course, that was on Delta and before I had the small kids.
