I do not have great confidence in private chartered planes. I'll give you an example why. A young pilot I know took a job at a charter operation to build
up her flying time so she could qualify for an airline job. She told me she was very concerned for her safety, even though she was in the cockpit, because the
pilot who owned the operation was dangerous. It was difficult for her to decide what to do; she wanted to build up her flight time, but really was concerned
about her own safety.

So obviously, I would be even more concerned in the passenger cabin. At least, in the copilot's seat, she might be able to do something.

You simply can't get good info about the safety of most charter outfits. I, myself, would not be comfortable taking one.

He stands a greater chance of dying just driving to his office compared to private or commercial flying, yet I'll bet you let him do that every day.

I think it's unfair, ureasonable, and controlling to expect your husband to base his personal/professional choices on your fear. Now, by asking him not to
go for your sake, you've added unnecessary guilt to the equation.

I have a personal policy of not flying on private charter planes. I don't know the plane, the pilot, etc., and have had very bad experiences (but also
very good ones) flying private. Now my husband has been asked to go on a day trip this Friday via private plane, and I've asked him not to go. I feel so
guilty -- like I'm this crazy controlling wife. A King Air crashed 2 weeks ago killing all 10 people abord just after take off from the Moab, Utah ariport
on a perfectly sunny day. A Cessna crashed a week before that in the mountains of Colorado, killing an entire family. If commercial airliners expereinced the
same fatality rates as private NO ONE would fly anywhere.

Am I being unreasonable? How could I live with myself if something awful happend to him; but how can I fairly interfere with his work?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
