Used to be that the flights from SAN took off with the right side fence being a double-barrier: separated the airport from the US Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD). I distinctly recall being on the MCRD side, on the obstacle course, and having the DI's call us down to "shout" down the plane. Had to be there, I guess, to really understand it.

Anyway, something to check out if you get the chance. CO 1626 looks like it took off 30 min behind schedule, but some of that could just be the ground traffic buffer. Took you over SE Penn, bit of Maryland, W Virginia, Kentucky, along the southern border of Indiana, across the southern tip of illinois, straight through Missouri, crossed a tiny sliver of Kanses before heading over Oklahoma (joke break for you: Why doesn't Texas fall off into the Gulf of Mexico?
