Dear all,
I started the SOAR complete relief about a month ago, and since then I've flown from LA to London and around Europe for work and leisure on several different flights. As opposed to before, I wasn't struck by complete and utter fear, but was rather calm about it all. Now I returned to the States and just (a minute ago) booked a trip to Mexico with my boyfriend - just holiday this time. It's on Alaska Air, and now I feel the butterflies and anxious feelings popping up… I've read everything that is on Alaska Air on this sight and find that both Cpt Tom and Cpt Steve say it's fine and that security has improved dramatically. In addition, I know that the planes are newer - I'm flying on a Boeing 737-800, which as far as I can see Alaska bought new (??) from 2004 onwards. Well, my question then is - how do I incorporate this into the strengthening exercise - considering it is an airline I've never flown on before. When practicing I've made sure to incorporate the planes and airlines I've been on, and I've made sure to book on airlines I know from before. Well, this time, not being from the US, and not very used to American carriers, I've had to do a first-timer on Alaska. Actually as I write this, I'm getting more and more nervous picturing stabilizers and other things going wrong, in addition to the news media's hype (although necessary) about regional carriers and unskilled pilots. Is this at all relevant for Alaska? I assume it is considered a regional carrier?
Well, I guess what I need is some sort of confirmation and advice on how to deal with this. As I said, I'm getting much better at flying, but still get pretty anxious about this one flight…
Thanks in advance,
Gina
