Couple days in the sun on the beach, doing some surf fishing and drinking beer. Helping the kids with a 1000 piece puzzle. People-watching all the college-type kids at Coconuts. Very relaxing.
Monday arrived too fast, and it was a slow, lazy morning, then on to MCO.
The coach line was long, but 1st was empty so we hopped on through, checking a bag, in less than 2 minutes. Impressive. Security was pretty short, and I was in flip-flops (no way I could have worn socks--somehow I burned the tops of my feet) so it was a quick trip through.
Found the little cart-bar thingy after the train to our gates and had a glass of wine; Mrs Oneant had a diet Coke for the sake of that little creature she's fostering. Overheard on the news that an Air France jet had "disappeared" on the way from Rio to Paris. Not the most uplifting story to hear when you're about to get on a plane--I feel for all the families.
Got to the gate when they were calling for Group 1, hopped in the empty PriorityAAccess line--after elbowing through the throng of people who don't understand the concept of staying out of the way until your group # is called--and found our seats. Very nice guy in 3F agreed to trade with my wife in 6F so that we could sit together.
MCO boards the 757 through 2L, like they do in LAS, which means 1st class is to the left when you board. The benefit of this is that the rest of the boarding passengers aren't clogging the aisle, so FA's are far more likely to do a pre-departure beverage service of more than just orange juice and water. Sure enough, I got a glass of wine.
On time takeoff, small bumps on the way up to FL380. Seat belt sign turned off, seat reclined, iPod in, eyes closed.
Hot towel warm nuts and a drink refill came quick, then the snack was either the salmon salad (which looked great) or the pizza (which we got because all 9 of the salmon salads were gone after 11 seats). Pita chips with hummus, salad, and the pizza.
After the trays were cleared, the FA's kept passing through every 5 minutes or so, just checking each persons tray to see if they needed a refill. This was probably the most attentive I've ever seen it on a domestic mid-con. Way to go AA!!
Wife smelled the chocolate chip cookies being baked, and we both happily took one when offered.
Seat belt sign came on and off a couple times during the flight, but nothing really noticeable. It came for the last time as we started our descent into DFW. Mostly clear skies, 87 degrees, winds about 15-20 out of the SW I think.
Pretty smooth decent and landing, then a short taxi to gate A-somethingorother. Picked up the bag at A16, hopped the shuttle to the Parking Spot, paid, got the usual bottle of water, and Mrs Oneant drove home (it's awesome having a designated driver all the time
