Terrified...literally crying thinking about it! |

I'm going on holidays this day next week...aug 21st! I'm physically shaking and crying just thinking about it! I'm half tempted just to pull out!
I'm scared about everything...the noise, the takeoff, in the air, the landing, the turbulance, just everything! Although it's horrible to say, I
don't trust the pilot .. I just don't think they could control such a big plane if anything was to go wrong! What if the engines fail?...theres
nothing really they can do! They cant be safe.. I've read the facts, gone over the stats numerous times and tried that virtual flight to try get used to
the sound and everything! I cant afford conselling or those classes, I'm only 18 & no job! I need a quick fix! .. If there is one!

There are threads on this website for almost every area of your fear. There are also starter videos Capt Tom has up on youtube that might help. Read through
things here and if there's anything you still have questions on i'm sure people would be willing to answer. I came on here when I was 18 and
couldn't afford the proper help, but I was helped enough to be able to fly without crying and worrying too much. Best of luck!

As Liv writes: have a look around on this website. The sections "Programs" and "Resources" might be of interest. Somewhere you can even
read that you have the possibility of a "No obligation call". You owe it to yourself to -at least- do that.
We FF understand how you feel. We have been there. I felt similar till I found SOAR and took corrective action: throwing up, frequent toilet runs, no sleep, unable to concentrate, hot tempered, mood swings, stomach in a knot for days, shaky, hot-cold,... Nowadays, I'm taking flight on a regular basis (couple of flights/month). You have time to prepare but you have to take action now! You don't, your feelings probably will get worse. As to the cost for this program, again, there are couple of options available (included free help). Please, do talk to Capt. Tom on this too. My personal take on it: you are going to fly for holidays and are on this board communicating on a PC/Laptop/handheld device? That also means somewhere you should have some money to spend, albeit very little perhaps. Now, do a cost benifit analysis for yourself and think of the freedom you will gain getting rid of your fears against the potential spenditure of one of the SOAR course possibilities. It really isn't that big deal when 18 and you need some dollars to spend you don't have. Been there to. It all depends on the target you set and the determination to achieve that goal: how important is (re)gaining your freedom to you? |

There are low cost options. Go to http://fearofflyingmp3.com/store/ and click on the bar that says "Audio
Accelerated Course" and you will see how you can download the entire Rapid Relief course to your computer (and put it on your iPod or iPhone) for under
$100. And if that is still too expensive, go to www.iAmplify.com and click on "travel" and you can see how to download just parts or the course or
"Take Me Along" for about $30.
We also have free counseling every Wednesday night from 10 until 11 PM eastern time. See http://fearofflying.com/resources/group-phone-counseling.shtml |

Hazel91 wrote:First off, you'll never find an airliner with one engine. That said, BOTH engines going out and not restarting is very unlikely. And if it is to happen, the jets can glide a good distance when at a decent altitude. You are no less safe flying in these airplanes than driving. They have a proven safety record. But I'm only a student pilot. I suggest speaking with the captains..they have a great amount of experience and will most likely help you very much with this issue. |

Note from Capt. Tom I know everyone worries about weather, but pilots really do not worry about it. We simply - instead of worrying about it - completely prepare for it. Before going to the plane, we review the weather at the destination. If it is not 100% sure to be within legal limits when we arrive at the destination, we must specify an alternate airport in our planning documents, and load on plenty of fuel for going to the destination airport, and then if need be, diverting to the alternate airport. The legal limits are conservative. Even when weather is slightly outside the legal limits, any airline pilot could still land safely. You can rely on the captain never to land when the weather is not legal, and legality limits are reached prior to safety limits. If you are still anxious, call me and we can talk it over. I'm at 877 332-7359 from 10 AM until 7 PM Eastern time. For effective help, even if you are flying in a day or two, sign up now at www.fearofflying.com/fasttrack and call me when you finish Clip 9 so I can make sure you are all set. |

Using Weather Information If you enter your ZIP Code or City at the top of the weather presentation, it will give you weather for your area. Or, you can enter your destination ZIP Code or City.
Click on the "LOCAL RADAR" button to see whether or not there are thunder- Turbulence, though it may cause anxiety, does not mean anything is wrong. Turbulence does not mean danger. The plane can handle far more turbulence than Mother Nature can dish out. Though flying in turbulence is safe, it doesn't feel safe. And here is where the SOAR programs come in. We can help you feel as safe when you fly as you actually are. You can see these programs at www.fearofflying.com/store. |
